DIABETES SYMPTOMS IN WOMEN

There are Lot of Diabetes Symptoms in Women that can prepare a person when dealing with the disease. Remember, awareness and preparation are one of the best ways to prevent or manage the disease from becoming a debilitating condition.

It is very important to recognize the early signs and symptoms of Diabetes if you are a female because the disease can target Vital organs without you noticing the effects immediately. Diabetes can cause blindness and blurring of because of diabetic retinopathy.

Another longer damage caused by diabetes is called cataract formation, wherein your eyes have a cloudy white appearance causing blurring and possible permanent blindness.

One dangerous complication of diabetes that has affected most of my aunts involved the kidney. It is called diabetic nephropathy, one of the leading causes of renal failure. This is a condition wherein your body can’t release the Toxins caused by the metabolism of nutrients in your body (ammonia, urea) because the kidneys are not functioning properly.

Most of the time a person who has it will not be able to excrete urine, thus the toxins just accumulates in the blood stream. The high levels of toxins in the body “poisons” your cells and disrupts the proper functioning of your vital organs.

Here are some information on the different Diabetes Symptoms in Women that I have researched:

  • Sex Problems – Yes, having a decreased interest for sex can signal a developing condition like Diabetes. But it can also be attributed to hormonal changes and Depression. Read More.
  • Polydipsia – Increased desire to swallow or drink water cause by increase thirst. As your body develops high levels of blood sugar, water is needed to counteract the effects of hyperglycemia and this triggers your desire to drink water.
  • Polyuria – This is commonly known as increase in the frequency of urination. Though it may be less urine volume everytime. This condition coupled with Polyphagia and Polydipsia can make the person feel more tired and restless.
  • Polyphagia – means increase desire to eat more. The problem of hyperglycemia is that there is an increased level of glucose in the blood. And glucose is needed for cell’s metabolism. But glucose will not be able to “enter” the cell without “INSULIN”. Therefore the cell is still “starving” despite the increased amount of sugar in the blood. This mechanism then triggers or signals our brain to consume more foods because our cells are “still hungry”. This cycle creates a snowballing effect on the person’s blood sugar levels and can shoot up to dangerously high levels of glucose. This can then lead to life threatening Diabetic complication which I will share later on.
Please note that these are just the Early signs and symptoms of diabetes in women, and sometimes in men too.
The Diabetes Symptoms in Women in the later stages are more complicated as they involve kidney, retinal, and nervous system symptoms. As always, going to your Licensed Medical Practitioner and asking for their advice and assistance would always give you the peace of mind that you deserve.
